Yeah, I definitely think The Year of the Flood was the best of the trilogy! I might have enjoyed MaddAddam a lot if Toby hadn't spent about two-thirds of it obsessing over who Zeb might be sleeping with, or might have slept with in the past, and if I hadn't felt like the end wrapped up way too quickly. I mean, there are some really cool elements to the world. But most of them seemed to be explored only shallowly in favor of people being horrible. My conclusion, looking back at all the Atwood novels I've read, is that she just really likes to write about people being horrible--that's one of the things that makes The Handmaid's Tale so great--and I will just have to keep that in mind the next time I read one of her books, so I'm prepared.
