Thanks for the catches! I know I was repetitive with the roses, but that was actually sort of on purpose, though, er, I couldn't really articulate why. Maybe just because it's the strongest thing, IMO, tying the two stories together. Also because roses are awesome.

You are not useless! I'm very glad you liked it! Praise is better than criticism :-P I should write more mash-ups, there are lot of folktales with different structures but small elements of similarity.

But I should point out, I'm not the only person to have noticed the similarities between Beauty and the Beast and Tam Lin: http://tam-lin.org/tales/tamlin2.html though I didn't find this until I'd already started the story!
