One Card Draw

Welcome to Clare-Dragonfly's one card Tarot draw!

I've been studying the Tarot on and off for, oh, the last fourteen years. Now I'm back to it, I remember how much I love it, and I want more practice. In particular, I want more practice reading for people besides myself!

To receive a card, all you need to do is leave a comment. Or, if you'd prefer more privacy, you can PM me via Dreamwidth or email me at gwraig [dot] annwn at gmail. If you include a specific question, the card will likely be easier to interpret, but it's not necessary.

When I respond with your card and my interpretation, I would really appreciate any feedback you have, so that I can improve my reading!

You can choose among these three decks, the ones I am most comfortable with:
- The Hanson-Roberts Tarot (a traditional Rider-Waite-style deck with soft colored pencil illustrations)
- The Shadowscapes Tarot (less traditional but still following the same style, this deck has fantasy-inspired watercolor illustrations; it does not use reversals)
- The Incidental Tarot (the least traditional of my decks; it uses different suits, and all of the court cards as well as many of the Major Arcana have different names)

If you can't or don't want to decide, I am happy to pick a deck for you.

Even though I'm doing this mainly for practice and not to make money, I will accept donations! If you donate $5 or more, I will draw two more cards to clarify your reading. If you want to donate more or would like a larger reading, contact me privately using either of the methods mentioned above and we can work something out.

Also, I have a special link incentive! If you boost the signal by posting a link to this somewhere else (and please tell me in your comment if you do), I will draw a card for you from the Fantod Pack, Edward Gorey's humorous take on the Tarot. But beware--the Fantod likes to predict truly horrible things!

I may not be able to get to requests immediately, but I promise I will draw your card within 12 hours of receiving your request.

Your card is the Six of Pentacles. This card depicts a man sitting on a fountain, playing on a pipe; wealth pours from the fountain, helping the plants grow, and they in turn support the fountain. It shows a symbiosis, a relationship of mutual aid. One gives succor, the other gives support. Have you considered a healing path? Or perhaps the cards are advising you to get in better touch with nature, to understand and become part of the cycles of the everyday world.

Your card is the Labyrinth. This is one of the two Talisman cards, unique to the Incidental Tarot! The Labyrinth represents a place totally separate from the ordinary world. I believe you are about to enter a phase of enormous inspiration, perhaps unmanageable amounts, and opportunities that you never expected. Be prepared for things to change and expand! Perhaps prepare yourself with a guide--such as a written listing of your creative goals, strengths, and weaknesses--so you don't get lost in the labyrinth.

Wow!

Actually, the tunnel leading into a labyrinth really feels metaphorically accurate. Scary, irrational, a leap of faith leading from this world and letting me immerse myself into other worlds, other stories.

I suppose The Tunnel is a perfect symbol (albeit depicted in reverse) for the blank screen where a story will happen, or the blank canvass where a painting will grow.

I'm using the Hanson-Roberts deck for you, because I forgot how hard the others are to shuffle with my small hands ;)

Your card is the Three of Pentacles, reversed. This card depicts a man putting the finishing touches on a doorway decoration, working very hard. Perhaps you've been looking too hard lately--or focusing too much on material things. Take a step back and look within yourself. Let yourself be idle and that may be where you find the truth.

I chose the Shadowscapes deck for you, as the imagery is generally more complex.

Your card is The Emperor. This depicts a man standing on a hill with a tree growing around him; he holds a ball containing a dragon (or perhaps it is a dragon) in his hands. He is the ruler of all things; all order comes from him. His is power and control. But it is important to note that he is still part of, and constrained by, the natural world--in fact, it is the natural world, as embodied by the dragon, that gives him his power. Exert your strengths to bring order to your world, but don't lose track of your roots in the process.
