What is Clare's Garden of Prose? Glad you asked. It's a crowdfunded call for prompts, in which I will write short fiction based on prompts offered here in comments. It's free to prompt, but in exchange for donations and promotions, I offer additional perks, including more posted fiction.

The theme for this Garden is herbs. Use the theme to inspire your prompts, but they can be as closely or tangentially related as you wish! Further, feel free to to specify if you'd like your story to take place in any one of my worlds.

Garden of Prose update

Okay, I haven't gotten near any of my goals/perk levels, but I'm going to call this a success-so-far anyway, because I have a bunch of prompts I'm really excited about! 5 people have prompted and I've raised $2. (The money will go into my savings for future moving out of my parents' house, if you're curious.) The first prompted piece should be posted soon; it is a very distracting prompt and I got caught up researching for it. Prompting is open for another nine and a quarter hours!

Prosy: A Conversation of Thought & Mind

Title: A Conversation of Thought & Mind

Prompt: ysabetwordsmith's: I would like a ficlet featuring two characters holding a conversation with all the dialog in the language of flowers.
Notes: Yay! The first Garden of Prose prompted piece! ::does a little dance:: This story is incomplete, but I know how it's going to go (the hardest part is keeping track of all the flowers I want to use); more can be posted for additional donations (from anyone!) of $1/~100 words.


Pansy stalked out into the garden. It was empty, just as she’d hoped. It was too late in the year for much to be blooming, but too early for the gardeners to have cleared out all the dead vegetation. It had rained that morning, and threatened to do so again, so most of the plants looked either dead and black or the glistening green of poison. It suited Pansy’s mood. Prosy: Steam Therapy

Notes: I've never had this tea (in fact I don't think I've ever had tea with rose petals in it) so I sort of guessed what it would look, smell, and taste like. Also, I should get a tea icon!
