Called my senators
Jan. 26th, 2017 09:14 pmThose jerks. Sigh. (Actually, I like them well enough, from what I've seen so far. Both Democrats.)
The problem is, I can't really call during business hours. So I called after I got home and changed and stuff. I called their local offices first. #1: Endless message loop, no way to leave a voicemail (unless I select a specific staffer, only identified by name, maybe? I'll try that next time). #2: Mailbox full. I tried their DC offices. #1: Mailbox full. #2: Finally left a message. Maybe it'll do some good.
One of the many frustrating things is I don't know exactly what to talk to them about--what exactly is going on right now. When they'd done the budget vote where Republicans put in the thing about defunding the ACA, the news made it sound like a done deal that we couldn't do anything about it--not true. Now I'm trying to resist Trump's cabinet picks, but I can't find any information about when confirmations are happening! Maybe they don't know yet? Possibly because the Republicans went on retreat? I don't even know, and I'm actively trying to keep up with the news.

The Women's March on Washington was incredible. While I was in it, I mostly felt stressed and overwhelmed, because crowds and I do not get along. But I'm glad I pushed through that and went.
Seeing all the women (and men, and people of other genders, and dogs), all the signs, all the images and news headlines, all the marches around the world, makes me feel really proud and inspired to have been involved. To have helped make history.
