“Come on, Angel,” Hector whispered, his lips fluttery by her ear, making a shiver run down her spine. “No one will miss us.”

She felt her cheeks warm—she managed to have dark skin that still showed a blush—but let him take her hand anyway. After all, he was her boyfriend.

She sent a quick mental wave to Charlotte as he led her away so she would know she was safe; Angel was just sneaking off with her man.

They went around the side of the school and to the back. Angel wrinkled her nose as they passed the smokers’ corner, but he continued, to a more secluded spot behind the storage shed.

Once away from prying eyes, he pressed her against the wall, his mouth hot and luscious on hers, his hands sliding up the front of her shirt. Angel gasped, but relaxed into the embrace, letting herself enjoy his attentions.

Until from Angel’s right, where no one had been a moment ago, they heard a throat clear.

Angel’s eyes flew open as Hector dropped his hands. She turned and saw Maureen standing there, smiling.
“You should behave, shouldn’t you?” Maureen whispered. “Someone might hear.”

“What the fuck, bitch?” Hector took an angry step toward Maureen, but she stepped back—hadn’t a fence been there?—and was gone.

Laura knew she shouldn’t have let herself be alone.

She’d gotten so confident since meeting her sisters, though. She’d never been this confident before moving here—always in Amy’s shadow. Not that she’d ever thought about it in those terms. She’d been happy to let Amy take the lead in everything; it was easier than making her own choices, even if she wasn’t entirely happy with how she ended up.Read more... )

Angel sits up in bed. The moon shines down on her, bathing her in light.

She is aware she is dreaming. She knows that the moon is not full tonight; it is in its waning quarter, and could not be shining this much light down on her. She knows, too, that the moonlight could never enter her window like this in the true night.

But she sits, and then she stands, because that is what she feels she must do.

Word count: 490
Rating: PG-13 for hot kissing
Prompt: 3WW: electric, passionate, savage
Notes: Angel's boyfriend! I don't think I ever gave him a name in the original incarnation. I'm not even sure he was ever seen on the page/stage (did I mention that I wrote a play about the Moonsisters in eighth grade? I wish I could find the script).

“Hey. Angel.”

Angel turned, surprised. That wasn’t Charlotte’s voice or Laura’s or Ivy’s; no one else ever spoke to her. Except Maureen. But this wasn’t Maureen.

It was a boy—a senior, a year older than her. Boys never called her anything but names. But this one was different.Read more... )

“All right, you four.”

They all looked up from the schedules they were comparing over their usual lunch table to see Maureen standing over them, arms crossed, tapping her foot. She was still beautiful, but her frown was like a slash of pink lip gloss across her milky complexion. “Let’s have it out. You and me. This afternoon, out back, as soon as school lets out.”

They all stared at her for a moment. Finally, Angel said, “What are you talking about?”Read more... )

“Oh my god, your hair is just so silky, isn’t it? How do you do it?”

There were hands in Ivy’s hair. She sat up straight and still. It was a pleasant tone of voice; whoever it was seemed to be just trying to be friendly. But still, they were touching her hair. She twitched her head so it came out of the person’s hands and moved slowly so that she could see who it was. She stayed silent.

It was Maureen, the most beautiful, blonde, popular girl in the school, now standing with her hands on her hips and a teasing smile on her face. “Ivy, right? I mean, your hair is just perfect. What kind of conditioner do you use?”Read more... )

“See?” said Charlotte. “From up here you can see everything, and they can’t see us.”

Ivy was not entirely convinced of that, but she climbed up after Charlotte anyway. Laura and Angel were right behind them. And once she’d inched out on the roof to sit next to Charlotte, she had to admit it was pretty cool. The whole schoolyard was stretched out before them, and more besides that. It was a little dizzying if she looked straight down, but she didn’t really want to do that anyway. From here she could just barely see the park.Read more... )

Title: Guys and Girls
World: Moonsisters
Word count: 2,416
Rating: R
Warnings: (skip) Misogynistic language, underage drinking, attempted rape, ensuing violence.
Prompt: [community profile] rainbowfic Sulphur 12, Manipulation; Moonlight 9, Ember; Fire Opal 7, Lusting after; hurricane; [community profile] stayintheroom "She's always the smartest person in the room, and she knows it."
Notes: When I saw the [community profile] stayintheroom prompt, I honestly thought this story was going to be about Ivy--and it is, but it's more about Charlotte. Also, I don't play video games and it occurred to me after I wrote it that Grand Theft Auto is probably not multiplayer. But it delights me to think of Angel and Laura playing a violent video game together.

“And furthermore,” Ivy said, “if you believe the theory about the butterfly, you understand that there’s really no point in worrying about your actions. The butterfly didn’t know it was causing the hurricane—it never even knew anything about the hurricane it caused, since it was so far away. You can’t control what consequences your actions will have. All you can do is try to survive however you can. If that butterfly hadn’t flapped its wings at that time, it would have fallen to the ground and been trampled or eaten. It didn’t have any choice anyway.”Read more... )

Prompt: [community profile] rainbowfic Caput Mortuum 4, Livor mortis; Moonlight 19, Sidereal; Antique Brass 17, There is no reality in which I would live in South Dakota.; novelty beads "We deserve beauty, love, respect, admiration, kindness and compassion. If we don't get it, there will be hell to pay." -- Margaret Cho; [community profile] dailyprompt "death and rebirth"; [community profile] darkfantasybingo sacrifice
Notes: Notes: Funny story about this character. I distinctly recall naming her after someone my friends and I hated when I was writing at least one version of the Moonsisters. However, I can't recall a single thing about this person we hated other than that her name was Maureen. I asked my best friend about it a few days ago, and she didn't remember anything, either ([personal profile] d_generate_girl, any recollection?). So I guess she didn't make that much of an impression! Hopefully this incarnation of Maureen is a more interesting villain than just someone to name after someone I hate; she's certainly more three-dimensional and way scarier after this story.

Maureen heard the sounds. She always said she’d heard nothing, suspected nothing, but she did. She heard it and she knew what it was. She was only twelve years old and she wasn’t supposed to watch television, but she’d heard those sounds enough times in her dreams.Read more... )

Angel dreams.

Four moons on the horizon. She can only see three, but she knows there is a fourth, in that logic that explains things in dreams. They are in the same place, and they are in a line, and they are circling each other, endlessly, endlessly.

Waxing crescent. Waning crescent. Full. Dark.

The moons come toward them. Her, and the three others by her side. (They are in the same place, and they are in a line, and they are circling each other, endlessly, endlessly.) The moons descend on them. The full moon descends on Angel, rests upon her head, falls into her, filling her with silver light.

Notes: I was looking for something on my mom's computer today and found a lot of my old files from high school and earlier (which I proceeded to email myself and then delete from her computer, because why does she need those?). I rediscovered this series, which I worked on a lot, even though I only finished a few stories. I remembered how much I loved them and decided to write about them again. This time I'll probably make them high school or college students instead of eighth graders, and make their nemesis less stupid. And their significant others: also less stupid.

Anyway, this piece is mostly just an exercise in characterization. I'm kind of pleased that I managed to remember all their names and a little bit about their personalities without actually having read through my old notes and stories. I definitely plan to post more, including stuff that explains why they're called the Moonsisters.

Angel wiped at her face with the back of one hand. “What could have done this?” she whispered in a choked voice.Read more... )
