Welcome to Clare's Garden of Prose! This month's theme is fountains, statues, and gazing balls. If you're new to my fiction and would like to read some before prompting, everything posted on my DW is listed here. Results from previous Gardens are also available: herbs, fences & gates, and paths.

What is Clare's Garden of Prose? Glad you asked. It's a crowdfunded call for prompts, in which I write short fiction based on prompts offered here in comments. It's free to prompt, but in exchange for donations and promotions, I offer additional perks, including more posted fiction.

Go under the cut for the full details! )

The theme for this Garden is fountains, statues, & gazing balls. Use the theme to inspire your prompts, but they can be as closely or tangentially related as you wish! Further, feel free to to specify if you'd like your story to take place in any one of my worlds, or if you'd like to see a specific kind of underrepresented character. You can also request a Torn World story.

Prompting will be open from 12:01 AM EDT Sunday, February 19 to 11:59 PM EDT Monday, February 20. If you don't have a Dreamwidth account, you can still prompt; anonymous commenting is enabled, or you can post with an OpenID.

Also, another call for prompts is currently active--the Crowdfunding Creative Jam (also on LJ). I may combine prompts from there with Garden of Prose prompts, and feel free to mix and match--combine the themes to inspire your prompts, send me to particular CCJ prompts you're interested in, or just prompt in both places!

Title: The Faerie Fountain
Word count: 1,777
Rating: PG
Prompt: [personal profile] ysabetwordsmith's: on the night the full moon, the fairy fountain runs not with water but silver wine made of moonlight.
Notes: This is set in Chatoyant College, a couple of years before Corrie, Edie, and Dawn's time. The story features one new character and one character who is important in the main story, but under a different name.

Roslyn looked out the window. Then she put her coat on. Then she looked out the window. Then she played a game of Solitaire on her computer.

The third time she looked out the window, Daphne was there, standing outside in the snow. Roslyn waved happily. Daphne waved back. Roslyn tore out of the room (being careful to lock the door behind her, because there had been some thefts when girls forgot to do that) and ran down the steps as fast as she could.Read more... )

Title: Lady Margareta's Faucet
Word count: 410
Rating: G
Prompt: [personal profile] pippin's: when the fortune teller's pump stops
Notes: I have no idea whether Lady Margareta is a real fortune teller or not.

“Come one, come all!” cried the woman in the hundreds of multi-colored scarves. They even covered part of her face. Ryan couldn’t even tell how old she was. “Lady Margareta can see all, will tell all, so you will know all!”

Ryan turned to Jose and grinned. “Should I?”

Jose laughed and slapped him on the shoulder, pushing him forward. “Absolutely, dude. Go for it.”Read more... )
