I keep forgetting to do this. I'm glad somebody on my reading list posted a June books list to remind me today! :D

State of the TBR: 141

Kind of a slow month. But I am reading, uh... seven books right now, according to Goodreads. So they're all going a bit slower.

I'm also implementing a new rule for myself: I can only check out from the library the same as many books as or fewer books than I'm returning that day. So far so good--last library trip, I returned two books and only checked out one. Of course, I didn't actually go into the library... my mom went, returned, and picked up a hold for me while I was away housesitting...

Oh, I've got those Maria V. Snyder books - three of them, I think - that I picked up in a cheap bookshop. I haven't read them though :)

Last month wasn't so bad! Three four-star books! (Five-stars are fairly rare for me, I think. I've had seven this year, out of 53 attempted books, and two of those are by my absolute favorite author.) Actually, I might have to say that four stars is the "recommendations stage"--if it's lower, I don't feel I can confidently recommend it, and if it's five stars, I accept that it's a book I loved so much that I'm not totally rational about it. Like Holly Black, and MeiLin Miranda, and The Mists of Avalon. So read those books! XD

I have to go to the library today, though... I forgot to do renewals online yesterday and now I need to go in, pay fines before they accumulate more, and hope they'll let me renew the books once I'm there.

Yeah, it's a trilogy--Magic Study is the second, I bought it after finishing Poison Study but haven't read it yet. I do recommend Poison Study!

It's interesting how different ratings are for people. ^-^ Most people I know are happy to recommend three star books, though sometimes with reservations.

I should remember to add The Mists of Avalon to my records. I've actually tried the book years ago already. ^-^ (And I should read more by Holly Black, too. I enjoyed the stories I've read!)

Oooh, sounds dangerous... Here's to hoping that you'll keep up your library rule when you're there and get to take home the books you want to renew! (I miss libraries that have books I enjoy...)

Oh, I meant I didn't read that many, not that I didn't like them. And now that I think of it, The Name of the Wind is like eight hundred pages.

I wouldn't recommend against three-star books, I just wouldn't volunteer them as much as four-stars.

Hopefully I can get in and out without walking past the main desk!

I know. You sounded a bit sad about that, so I was hoping your reading this month would leave you happier there. (Of course if you wind up reading less books, but all books you really, really love that would be more awesome.)

Ah, sorry. I'm not trying to say that you'd recommend against them. It's just that your words implied to me that you wouldn't recommend them gladly. I don't think that's a reaction I've seen much toward three star reviews is all. ^-^

Bicycling for Dummies isn't a joke book, is it? I keep wanting to get into bicycling and then keep being scared off by all the things I don't know about bikes in general! :( Maybe I should check out a book like that.

Nope, it's part of the whole For Dummies series! It's probably a good idea if you're trying to learn more about bikes.
