I've decided to follow [personal profile] calissa's lead this year and sign up for the Once Upon a Time book challenge!

This is a pretty simple challenge. In fact, the first two options are just too easy for me, and I love A Midsummer Night's Dream, so I'm signing up for Quest the Third.

For this challenge, you fulfill the requirements for The Journey, Quest the First, or Quest the Second. I'm going with the most challenging option, Quest the Second, which is: Read at least one book from each of the four categories. In this quest you will be reading 4 books total: one fantasy, one folklore, one fairy tale, and one mythology.

And here are my plans (I went strictly with TBR books):
Fantasy - The Folk Keeper by Franny Billingsley--I'm not sure what it's about anymore, but it's been on my to-buy list for a while, and then a friend gave it to me last year as a surprise gift!
Folklore - In Ghostly Japan by Lafcadio Hearn--I'm a big fan of Japanese folklore and I'm jumping at the chance to dig into it some more.
Fairy tale - Six-Gun Snow White by Catherynne M. Valente--need I say more?! I'm a huge fan of Valente's work and fairy tale retellings.
Mythology - The Dark Wife by Sarah Diemer--this is a lesbian retelling of the myth of Persephone, which is one of my favorite myths, and I love f/f, so really, the only question is why I haven't read it sooner!
