I meant fictional uses, yes. They're not common but I've seen some. Most are in romances set in Victorian times or something similar, occasionally courtly romance farther back. I don't read those myself but they're quoted on flower language websites sometimes. Then there are examples from fantasy. One rather good one involved sending secret messages because someone was held captive.
