wyld_dandelyon's: The most beautiful fountain in Affamarg
Notes: This is set in Torn World! Hopefully I didn't miss anything I should have read before writing this because I have not nearly read all the articles yet XD
Note that this is not canon until/unless approved by the canon board.
There are two parks in the city of Affamarg. (Actually, Affamarg, as a well-designed and beautiful city, has a great number of parks, but only two parks come into the story.) They happen to be across the street from each other, one on the north side and one on the south side. They are very different parks; the park on the south side has many sharp angles, made of metal and stone, arranged into beautiful geometric patterns, while the park on the north side is full of bushes and flowers, flowing over and through each other, in lumps and bumps and messy parts. Both are extremely beautiful in their own way. Both also contain fountains.
The fountain in the south park matches the park’s overall design. It is made of perfectly even, perfectly square tiers of polished metal. The water bubbles up from the top so gently and quietly that it appears perfectly smooth when viewed either from the side or from the top, and it cascades over the sides in perfect order. Between the sun and the metal, the fountain is so reflective that on a bright day, with the sun shining off it, it maybe dangerous to look at.
The fountain in the north park also matches that park’s overall design. It is made of stone and concrete. In places it is formed into shapes of animals and plants; in other places, the shape is simply complex, smooth curves. In some spots, the water has been flowing for so long that it has worn away some of the sculptural features. The water bubbles and splashes in different places; in some places it flows smoothly, in some it arcs in a waterfall.
One day, two people sat down at the same time on a bench in between the two parks. Lassati was facing the north park, and Danya was facing the south park. It was evening, with the sun beginning to set, and the sky was beautifully lit, the air cool and sweet. Both women sighed with contentment as they sat down to rest.
