First of all you're awesome! Seriously, thank you so much for offering one of my fandoms. I am so excited to see what you will write for me.
Secondly, don't feel constrained by anything I've written below; optional details, they are so optional. I've picked these fandoms because I would be thrilled to see anything written in them. You can even go ahead and ignore my selected characters if you want. It'll be awesome either way.
So first, some general preferences.
My tastes tend to run towards the dark, long, and plotty; however, I can also be happy with fluffy and short. I have no preference on the subject of smutty or not-smutty. I prefer femslash or het (mostly because I'm primarily interested in female characters), but if my comments give you a slash idea, go for it.
Narrative kinks: folklore, strong female characters, competence, genre savvy characters. Erotic kinks: BDSM, everything related to that, consent issues (noncon, dubcon, etc.), and I'm probably not going to be unhappy about anything else not listed in my squicks. Squicks: things relating to bodily fluids other than blood, sweat, and tears; mpreg.
And now, my specific requests!
Alice (2009) - Alice Hamilton, Hatter
Gosh I would love anything about these two. I ship them so hard, so anything shippy would be great. Something set after the series would be great, but I have already read a number of those, so something different would be a lot of fun, too. Maybe something set before they meet, or a missing scene from the series. Sometime in the past that Hatter met a girl. Sometime in the past that Alice met a guy. An AU where they never met, or they met differently, or they never fell in love. Just a bunch of suggestions!
Iowa - Dar Williams - Narrator

One of the times that I saw Dar Williams live, she introduced this song by saying she's not a lesbian. (I'm paraphrasing, but that's about how it started.) She said that a lot of people seem to think she is, but she thought this song made it clear that she's not. However, that totally isn't what I get from "I never had a way with women, but the hills of Iowa make me wish that I could"! It sounds more like the narrator has always had bad luck with women. It's really an unrequited love song to me. (Though note, Dar did not say she isn't bisexual.) So there's one idea, or a set of ideas, but I would really love any fic inspired by this song. It's such a great song! I would also be happy if you stuck with what Dar actually says (because, come on, she's Dar) and wrote about a narrator who isn't interested in women but wishes she was, or thinks she could be, or something along those lines.
I would also be completely in favor of bringing in characters from other Dar Williams songs. Maybe the narrator and/or the other character from "When I Was a Boy," or the narrator from "The Ocean," or the babysitter from "The Babysitter's Here."
Alphas - Kat
Kat is so much fun! She's my favorite new character, and there's so much room for fic about her. What was her childhood like? What has she done for a living? Did she decide to leave home, or did something happen, or did she just forget to go back?
One theory I have is that the woman from the commercial really is her mom, but she's an actress. Maybe she taped the commercial in order to remember her mom, then lost the tape. Maybe her mom gave her a tape of the commercial so she wouldn't forget but she lost it or got rid of it on purpose. Maybe she never saw the commercial until she'd forgotten about her mom, and it's the only thing that stuck with her because it triggered something she couldn't actually remember. There has to be some reason why that commercial seemed so important, right?
Also, if you've decided Kat no longer inspires you and you want to write about Gary instead? Go for it, because he's my favorite character. I would especially love something about him wandering around in Grand Central Station surrounded by dead and unconscious people, because... creepy!
The Sandman - Nuala
Nuala is definitely my favorite character from Sandman. I dressed up as her once for Halloween! She has a lot of space for fic, too. Something about her life before she came to the Dreaming would be really cool. Did she enjoy court once? Did she do something to offend Titania so that she was used as a gift to Dream? What was the relationship like between her and Cluracan before he gave her away?
There's plenty of room for her life while she lived in the Dreaming, too. Something with her interacting with other Dreaming denizens would be a lot of fun. Abel, Eve, Fiddler's Green? It's actually been a while since I read the comics, so I don't remember who we do see her interacting with!
And after she leaves... well, I don't even know what she would do then. I leave that up to your imagination.
