The one card draw is now closed! Thanks to everyone who stopped by!
Welcome to Clare-Dragonfly's one card Tarot draw!
I've been studying the Tarot on and off for, oh, the last fourteen years. Now I'm back to it, I remember how much I love it, and I want more practice. In particular, I want more practice reading for people besides myself!
To receive a card, all you need to do is leave a comment. Or, if you'd prefer more privacy, you can PM me via Dreamwidth or email me at gwraig [dot] annwn at gmail. If you include a specific question, the card will likely be easier to interpret, but it's not necessary.
When I respond with your card and my interpretation, I would really appreciate any feedback you have, so that I can improve my reading!
You can choose among these three decks, the ones I am most comfortable with:
- The Hanson-Roberts Tarot (a traditional Rider-Waite-style deck with soft colored pencil illustrations)
- The Shadowscapes Tarot (less traditional but still following the same style, this deck has fantasy-inspired watercolor illustrations; it does not use reversals)
- The Incidental Tarot (the least traditional of my decks; it uses different suits, and all of the court cards as well as many of the Major Arcana have different names)
If you can't or don't want to decide, I am happy to pick a deck for you.
Even though I'm doing this mainly for practice and not to make money, I will accept donations! If you donate $5 or more, I will draw two more cards to clarify your reading. If you want to donate more or would like a larger reading, contact me privately using either of the methods mentioned above and we can work something out.
Also, I have a special link incentive! If you boost the signal by posting a link to this somewhere else (and please tell me in your comment if you do), I will draw a card for you from the Fantod Pack, Edward Gorey's humorous take on the Tarot. But beware--the Fantod likes to predict truly horrible things!
I may not be able to get to requests immediately, but I promise I will draw your card within 12 hours of receiving your request.
This offer will be open until approximately 6 PM EST Saturday, February 2. Anyone who comments or contacts me before I close the offer will have a card drawn for them.
Disclaimer: I am not a doctor, a lawyer, or an accountant, and this is not, nor is it a substitute for, medical, legal, or financial advice. If you need any of those, please go to the appropriate professional.

Date: 2013-02-02 12:12 am (UTC)I chose the Hanson-Roberts Tarot for you, because... it's on top. Your card is the Nine of Pentacles. This suit of pentacles refers to money, family, and home life; this card suggests that you do what you enjoy, express your values, and seek out things you find beautiful. I think it's encouraging you in your home remodeling efforts!

Date: 2013-02-02 12:22 am (UTC)Your first card is the Six of Wands. This is a card of confidence and triumph. Whatever you're thinking about doing, go for it! It might be hard work, but it will bring you success.
Your clarifying cards are the Eight of Swords and Strength. The Eight of Swords refers to struggle--the swan it depicts is trapped between swords and brambles. However, there is a hummingbird hovering just above, there to help the swan. This card tells you not to give up the struggle, because there is hope and help. Strength is a card of power, but not violent power--the woman holds the beast's jaw in her hand, but she is soothing it, not forcing it down. This card urges patience and persistence, and promises success.

Date: 2013-02-02 12:29 am (UTC)Your card is The Rose King, reversed. This may refer to an actual person, in which case you should be wary of a man who seems inconsistent, extravagant, or dishonest--because he probably is. Or it may be advising you to be more like the reversed Rose King, in which case you should not feel guilty about being selfish or flaky--you need that time of your own--and perhaps perfect honesty is not always the best policy. In fact, the latter may be a good way to deal with the man...

Date: 2013-02-02 12:36 am (UTC)Your card is the Three of Quills, reversed. The quills are the element of air and usually refer to the intellectual life. The reversed three is a warning--there may be interpersonal challenges ahead for you. The advice may be to buckle down and focus on intellectual work (I see in your profile that you are a writer), or at least to pull in and focus on yourself, as the three quills depicted on the card point together to the bottom of a heart.

Date: 2013-02-02 12:39 am (UTC)One from Shadowscapes please.
(Edit: Oh! And one double checking I see the Whimsical Tarot was put together by Hanson-Roberts, but I'll stick with Shadowscapes for the draw for variation)

Date: 2013-02-02 12:59 am (UTC)Oh, wow. This kind of IS something I've been dealing with. Not wanting to be selfish or flaky, and feeling guilty when I am. And just how honest I should be with certain people (I definitely tend toward TOO honest.) Thank you!

Date: 2013-02-02 01:00 am (UTC)Your card is the Seven of Wands. This card depicts a fox defending her kits against a badger. It tells you to fight if it becomes necessary! But hopefully it won't be: the fox and badger are surrounded by bamboo, quick-growing and flexible. It will outlast the fight. Take a stand for what you believe in, but be flexible--you don't want to fight so hard you break.

Date: 2013-02-02 01:11 am (UTC)I'll be graduating very soon, and while the next stage of life involves yet more full time education, so isn't as different as it could be, I'm wondering - how can I best prepare myself for the new challenges ahead?
Thanks :)

Date: 2013-02-02 03:03 am (UTC)Your card is the Two of Rods, reversed. This card shows a man holding a globe and looking sadly out onto the sea. He wants to see the world but can't. You, on the other hand, are a sailor! I believe this card is encouraging you to make the opposite choice: get out there, see everything. I recall you mentioning a training opportunity--if you haven't decided yet whether to apply, I say go for it!

Date: 2013-02-02 03:09 am (UTC)Your card is the Nine of Quills, reversed. (I would have been quite surprised if a quill had not come up!) These quills are dripping and writing with red ink--or blood. But the reversal turns aside the fear and pain of the upright card. The message is simple: this too shall pass. If you've been dealing with writer's block, don't let it worry you. The problem isn't you, but some temporary circumstance.
