Happy new year! When I put my iTunes on shuffle this morning (as I usually do), the first song it played was "Pretty Good Year" by Tori Amos. I'll take that as an auspicious sign... but not an amazing one, since it could have chosen "This Will Be My Year" by Semisonic.

Here are the books I read in December:
63. His by Aubrey Dark - ****
64. Among the Nameless Stars by Diana Peterfreund - *** 1/2
65. The First Star to Fall by Diana Peterfreund - ****
66. By the Sword by Mercedes Lackey (reread) - ****
67. Sinner by Maggie Stiefvater - ****
68. Tithe by Holly Black (reread) - *****
69. Moomin Vol. 1 by Tove Jansson - ***
70. A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens (reread) - *****

For the Reading Bingo, Tithe filled square B4, "the first book by a favorite author," and A Christmas Carol (the last book I read in 2014) filled square N3, the free square. Here's the list of books I read this month for the whole bingo card!

B1: Allegiant I1: Mythology N1: The Haunting of Hill House G1: Blue Lily, Lily Blue O1: 21 Reasons
B2: Feather by Feather I2: Intrigues N2: Polly Oliver's Problem G2: The Grail of Hearts O2: Mr. Monster
B3: Angelfall I3: Dreams Underfoot N3: A Christmas Carol G3: The Ghost Bride O3: 101 Ways to Find a Ghost
B4: Tithe I4: Longbourn N4: Prodigy G4: Zodiac O4: Truth or Dare
B5: Smoke and Mirrors I5: I Am Not a Serial Killer N5: The 12 Secrets of Highly Creative Women G5: Rebel Heart O5: The Telling

I did not quite reach 50k words written in December, but I probably would have if those pesky holidays hadn't gotten in the way. Still, I'm happy with what I wrote! I am not making a wordcount goal for 2015.

I only made one goal for 2014--to run a mile. And I completely failed at it. Sigh. I'm not sure I could have succeeded even if I'd worked harder; considering the trouble I had just with walking at some points during the year, my body may just not be built for running.

However, I didn't work as hard at it as I should have. The goal was always in the back of my mind, but I didn't check my progress and reevaluate what I was doing at regular intervals, and I didn't keep working harder toward it. If I make another fitness goal, I'll schedule times to reevaluate and change what I'm doing if necessary.

For 2015, I have made a few goals, but most of them are "do this small thing every day." One is to successfully plan my wedding, which is May 2, so that's going to happen whether or not I work hard enough at it. And one is to do well at my new job! That's why I'm not making any big plans or goals for 2015--I'm going to have a full-time job for the first time, and I don't even know if I'll be able to keep up with my usual habits and plans!

Here's to a wonderful 2015 for all of us!
