Writing about books!

ysabetwordsmith is collecting links to writing/artwork about bookstores. I already have a couple of ideas/stories in progress that are book-related, but I want more! So this is an official request: give me prompts about books, bookstores, and/or libraries and I'll write something.

This is not the same as the Garden of Prose (which I will be doing again); I'm making no guarantees about length or posting. I may post all of a response or none of it. And there are no prizes. I'm just asking for prompts!

The smell of old books, when there are a lot of them in a used book store; and the idea that it's possible to travel between one mass of books and another; so that the smell is the key to that doorway.

I feel like I have to mention that my local independent book store actually has its own short story compilation. It's called The Places In Between. Many, but not all, of the stories in this compilation are about the book store itself! My favorite story in the compilation, Beneath Between, takes place largely in the back store room ;)
