Notes: I'm calling this Extranormal Crimes even though it has no inherent connection to that universe. It's just nice to imagine that the FBI will show up soon.
It’s a good knife.
Goes in nice and smooth.
There’s blood on her floor but she knows how to clean up. That can wait. For now she has to get him to the place she’s prepared for him.
Nice hole in the ground. Lined with wood so the dirt won’t fall in on his face.
Covers it up with a lid and puts dirt on top.
He won’t be getting out. It’s nice and safe. Nice and secure.
She’ll keep him there forever.
—
She keeps visiting him.
It’s not like anybody looks at her anyway. Before long she’s just scattering a thin layer of dirt over the lid that she can brush away with a broom and open the lid, not too much of a wait, so she can see him.
She sits on the edge of the hole and dangles her feet in, just barely above him. Whispers, “Love you, hun.”
Every day for a while, and then not so often, because it’s not like he’s going to miss her.
(Besides, he stinks a little bit.)
And she doesn’t miss him. She knows he’s always close.
—
Once he’s dry she can jump down in the hole with him. She doesn’t like to get her dress dirty. But it’s good to be so close to him.
“Never going to leave,” she tells him.
Because he’ll always be there. He can’t leave and she won’t. She’ll always be watching him.
She’ll never go away.
