The books I've finished in the past month:
25. Son in Sorrow by MeiLin Miranda - *****
26. Black Heart by Holly Black - *****
27. Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson - *****
28. Bride of the Water God by Mi-Kyung Yun (unfinished)
29. Fire by Kristin Cashore - *****
30. Mercy by Rebecca Lim (unfinished)
31. Fever by Lauren DeStefano - ****
32. First Nations in Canada by Alan D. McMillan and Eldon Yellowhorn - ****
33. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett (reread)

Oh look, the two new books by two of my favorite authors, and also a book from one of my new favorites! :D (The latter would be Kristin Cashore. I will acquire Bitterblue as soon as the Kindle price goes down...)

State of the TBR: 192
So yeah, that's up again. But I guess I'm not bothered by it because all of the books I acquired were ebooks, so they're not taking up space on my shelves. I'd still like to get the list down, but I've had willpower about not checking so many books out of the library, so hopefully that will happen soon.

As always, if you've read ay of those books or want to read them or just think the title is funny, feel free to comment! I love talking about books :D

I loved The Secret Garden as a child. <3 It was one of my first English-only reads, I'm pretty sure. Well, when it comes to proper books. I doubt the booklets we had at school with the nursery rhymes count.

I've also read Speak of those. ^-^ I gave it to my cousins to read for book reports and my not-so-into-reading one really liked it, if I remember right. ^-^

My first reads were abridged too, but then later I found out that the story as I remembered it wasn't abridged at all, so that makes my experience/recollection of reading more or less the opposite of yours. <3

I've had the same thing with Little Women, another book I reread multiple times. One day I will feel happy and comfortable rereading again...
