Hurricane update

The hurricane seems to have passed over us now, and we're nearly unscathed. The power never went out (which is almost disappointing, with my device-charging preparations), and the only damage to my house is a section of... well, I can't remember what my mom called it, but it's like a metal strip along the side of the roof to protect the wood. Part of that came off and part of it is dangling, but it's not terribly dangerous and we're holding off on calling the roofers as they're certain to be very busy right now.
I don't think any of the trees around us even lost branches, which means they got off better than they did last year, when we had the Halloween snowstorm. The animals didn't seem to be bothered by the storm, either. Ophelia was being extra needy, which I thought at first might have been because the storm was making her nervous. But then I carried her downstairs and she climbed onto my head to eat the spider plant, and I realized that was her goal all along, so she's just being extra needy because the plants were all brought in yesterday. (She's allowed to eat the spider plant because it's not poisonous, unlike most of the other plants, so we let her have it to satisfy her plant-eating neediness. But it's hung so high that she can't reach it unless someone picks her up. Crazy cat.)
I hope everyone else got through the storm similarly unscathed! ::hugs:: for you all!

Flashing? I think we call it flashing, anyway.
